1. Formula 1 Heineken Gran Premio d’Italia at Monza
• Race Date: Sunday, September 12, 2021
• TV: TSN4/5 at 8:55 to 11:00 EDT

THE VENUE:
• Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Monza, Italy
• 5.793 (3.600 mi) 11-turn road course
• While this circuit is one of the classic F1 tracks, in truth in its present form it is a petty simple layout – a flat track (no elevation changes) with a front stretch with a chicane, followed by a shorter straight interrupted by a chicane, then a long double-apex ‘hairpin’ opening into another straight ending in yet another chicane, leading onto the back straight and into the final turn, the 180 degree ‘parabolica’ and back onto the front straight – really nothing exotic.

THE EVENT:
• 53 laps/306.72 km (190.59 mi)
• This is the second Grand Prix (after the British GP) to use the novel sprint race qualifying format on Saturday (18 laps or one hour max.). The finishing order of the Saturday Sprint race will set the starting lineup for Sunday’s Grand Prix. Think of the Sprint race as the equivalent of the first Stage in a NASCAR race, followed by a longer second Stage the next day, both with standing starts.
• Formula One official tire supplier Pirelli is set to bring the three compounds in the middle of the range for their home race: the most popular selection of the season. The P Zero White hard is the C2, P Zero Yellow medium is C3, and P Zero Red is the C4. The same compounds were selected for the last two years at Monza, offering a good balance for all the different demands of the Italian Grand Prix. So teams have enough data in their hands to work on their strategies.
