• I can’t find any confirmation of the procedure used to set this week’s NGROTS starting lineup. I presume it is the same as at the previous event at Martinsville:
> Positions 1-10: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
> Positions 11-21: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
> Positions 22-32: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
> Any vehicles that are eligible for the event in position 33rd – 40th will be assigned starting positions based on their order of eligibility.

• The most recent NGROTS event this year was held at Homestead on June 13. Kyle Busch had to start from the back but he surged forward to take the race win. He took the checkered flag 2.847 seconds ahead of Tyler Ankrum, then Ross Chastain, Chase Elliott and Johnny Sauter after a dramatic final restart with six laps remaining.

• There were two Cup races here last year. The first ran on June 2nd and the second one on July 28th. Kyle Busch won the June race by a 2.2-second margin over Brad Keselowski. Erik Jones was third, Chase Elliott fourth and Clint Bowyer fifth. The July Cup race was won by Denny Hamlin over Erik Jones. Martin Truex was third, William Byron fourth and Kyle Larson fifth
• The most recent Cup race was the one ran on this past Monday, June 22 at Talladega. As is commonplace at this superspeedway, there was a big smash-up as the cars reached the finish line. Erik Jones who had had a tiny advantage over Ryan Blaney and John Hunter Nemechek was squeezed up into Nemechek, causing them both to crash while Blaney went on to cross the finish line by inches over Ricky Stenhouse. Aric Almirola crossed the line backwards for third ahead of Denny Hamlin. Jones was able to bring his wrecked car home in fifth place.
