Car: Freedom Autosport Mazda Speed 3 (MS3)
Track: Carolina Motorspots Park (CMP)

(The matching colour schemes were a complete coincidence.)

Povoledo tested the Freedom Autosport Mazdaspeed3 at Carolina Motorsports Park.Top GRAND AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge team Freedom Autosport asked me to come down to Kershaw, South Carolina to help out with some development testing of their new baby – the MS3. What a blast – the car has tons of potential (and even more torque). It was great working with the Freedom crew and I am proud to report that the car pictured here went on to finish 10th in its debut at Daytona just two weeks later driven by Taylor Hacquard and Ryan Ellis. Congrats guys!

CMP is hands down one of my favorite private tracks in North America – it’s a real driver’s track and boasts an impressive skid pad and karting track. The staff are the absolute embodiment of southern hospitality – big thanks to track manager Brian Smith for letting us tear up the skid pad in my buddy’s Mustang!!

The author (far right) begins his 2010 racing season on a winning note. What a start to 2010 - we won! Big thanks to the crew at Long Road Racing for giving us perfect pit stops and a bulletproof car that was able to run identical lap times for six hours straight; not to mention my super hero co-drivers who didn’t put a foot wrong and produced fast laps all day and night long!! The pace, consistency and lack of errors put us in front of much bigger machinery. Consistency really is the key to endurance racing.
